Q&A
My family is coming
with me to the WALK. Do I need to register the entire family?
Answer
Is there a participation fee for NAMIWALKS?
Answer
Marti Bush,
the NAMI Michigan Walk Manager has developed a great
strategy to recruit Walkers to her Team for her Walk
which will be held on September 28th. She has added her
Team Page link in her email signature (see below) so
that every email that goes out on her business email
account includes this information. She also does this
on her personal email account.
Example:
Yes. However,
within the online system, only one person may have team captain
status. If you are co-captaining a team, you should decide which
one of you will function as team captain within the Web system
and be responsible for team page updates, etc. Additionally,
when you create a team page there is a field for listing the
names of all co- captains.
Team captain is
the designation given to the person who creates or organizes a
Walk team for the event. Team captains who register online
receive e-mail notification each time a new member registers
online, have the ability to create a team webpage, and have
access to special team management features through myNAMI.
Team building is
an important aspect of NAMIWALKS. Teams are a great way to bring
people together towards a common goal or enjoy a little friendly
competition amongst teams.
The more people that form teams and recruit walkers, the more
awareness will be raised about the need for quality mental
healthcare.
Your walker
webpage is a customized webpage you create to share information
about yourself and why you are walking; to allow others to make
secure online donations on your behalf; and to track your
fundraising progress. You can create your page during the
registration process, or at any point after that using your
myNAMI sign-in account.
Dogs are welcome
at our NAMIWALK. (Some even wear a team t-shirts!) However,
there is a strict leash rule at Tribble Mill Park.
No, there is no
required participation fee to walk in a NAMIWALKS event.
However, you will still need to complete either an online or
paper registration form.
There are two
places you can obtain the NAMIWALKS logo online. The first place
is on your site's webpage and the second is on NAMI's Identity
Guide webpage.
From your walk site's webpage:
1.) Go to the NAMI [your walk site] Walk webpage.
2.) Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
3.) Locate the word Walksite Manager and click on it.
4.) Enter the Admin Code.*
5.) You should now see a page titled “Walk Manager Page: [your
walk site].”
6.) Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
7.) Look under “Related Resources.”
8.) Click on the phrase NAMIWALKS Logo (for 2008 forward).
9.) Read through the instructions and the logos are near the
bottom.
*If you do not remember your Admin Code, please send a request
to walkhelp@nami.org
From the NAMI Identity Guide:
1.) Go to www.nami.org/identity
2.) Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
3.) Locate the phrase “Professional graphic designers” and click
on it.
4.) Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
5.) Locate the area labeled “Other Special Graphics.”
6.) Click where it says “click here.”
7.) Read through the list until you find the NAMIWALKS logos.
8.) Select either the JPG or GIF files to download by clicking
on it.
9.) If a new browser page opens and you see the logo, right
click on it with your mouse.
10.) Select "Save Image As" to save the file to you computer.
Please note: The EPS format files will not work on most
computers. They are intended for professional printer or graphic
designer use.
Yes! We want every walker that attends to register. There are
two important reasons:
(1) so that we know how many walkers there are; and
(2) so that each person can sign the Waiver of Release and
Liability.
If you register online, you agree to the Wavier as part of the
process. If you use the paper registration, the Waiver is
included on the form. (Parents or guardians of minor children
sign for each child.)
We recommend that adults register online, but for children it’s
best to complete the paper registration either on the day of the
walk or hand it in ahead of time.
There is an age restriction for registering online. As stated in
the Terms of Use available on the NAMI homepage, the NAMI
website requires that users be at least 13 years of age.
Remember: While it is technically possible to register others
online, it is discouraged. Each Walk participant is encouraged
to register for themselves, so they may verify that all their
information is entered correctly, as well as have access to
their own sign-in account for managing their walker information
through myNAMI.
