CIT-Youth Trainer Education Session
Community stakeholders and agencies partnered with NAMI Georgia in a continuing education session for Youth Crisis Intervention Trainers recently at the Courtyard Marriott Atlanta-Northlake in Tucker, GA.
In attendance were law enforcement officers and mental health providers/clinicians from our pilot groups in Savannah, Vidalia, Albany, and Fulton County, and NAMI Georgia staff. Topics presented included: Understanding Adolescent Development, Adolescent Behavioral Development, Crisis Intervention and De-escalation, the Family Experience, and Connecting to Community Resources.

Additional presenter, Dr. Sarah Vinson, Board Certified Physician Specializing in Child and Adolescent, Adult and Forensic Psychiatry, discussed Georgia State specific modules and continuation on adolescent development, behaviors, and services.
Our Georgia Community Resource Panel included: Beth Sanders, President of NAMI Northside, Cheryl Benefield, GA Department of Education, Olga Pittman, DBHDD, Alloceia Hall, President of NAMI Savannah and Clinician.
Special thank you and recognition to Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities who funded this training. We were pleased to have Jewell Gooding, Program Development Manager for DBHDD, attend this training and take part in the role playing segment of the train-the-trainer.
