Introducing Kathleen Varda, MSW, NAMI Georgia Grants Coordinator
We welcome our newest NAMI Georgia Team Member!
Kathleen Varda, MSW, Grants Coordinator
NAMI Georgia would like to introduce you to Kathleen Varda, MSW who joined our team in September to coordinate our grant making and strategic projects.
Kathleen is not new to our organization as she previously worked with our team, authoring a 3- year Mental Health Awareness Training grant awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Prior to starting her own consulting firm in 2015, Kathleen Varda spent 9 years in community behavioral health at three of Georgia’s Community Service Boards. Over the past 12 years, Kathleen has worked with teams to bring in more than $65 million dollars in grants and contracts to provide programming, services and resources for persons with mental health, substance use disorders and intellectual/developmental disabilities, their families and their communities. Her skill set also includes strategic planning, board development, policy writing, advocacy, and program and community development.
Kathleen lives in Smyrna with her husband of almost 10 years and their 2 children Allen (7) and Josie (3). We are truly excited to have her as a part of our team and the work that we do.
“My hope is that the work I get the tremendous honor of doing every day makes a ripple effect that impacts one person’s life, bringing them hope and strength. I am a parent of, a daughter of, a sister of, a colleague of, and a friend of someone with a mental health issue.”- Kathleen Varda
